If you're working within range of an outlet, electric is the way to go (over gas); saw is quiet until you fire it up to cut as opposed to constant noise of a running gas engine, not to mention avoiding starting problems of a gas engine or the need to prep gas/oil mixtures; comes with a plastic bar/chain cover; much lighter than a gas chainsaw which makes it easier for the average homeowner to handle; used with a 100-ft extension cord with no power drop-off issues.
CONS
Should come with some kind of a "cord cage" to keep the saw from unplugging from the extension cord, although I didn't really have a problem with it coming unplugged other than a few times when I stepped on my extension cord. This is the reason I knocked off 1-star, because a plastic cord cage would likely have cost B&D less than a dollar to include."
