A brushless motor offers less noise, quicker cooling and greater efficiency. Brushed motors tend to wear out quicker since the brushes in the motor are in constant contact with the engine shaft, which also creates more noise.

The disadvantages of a brushless motor is the manufacturing costs are higher. Like anything else, better technology in manufacturing has allowed the costs of brushless motors to go down.

General estimates regarding brushed vs brushless motors state that the efficiency is about 10-15% less with a brushed motor than a brushless motor.
