Started in 1910 by S. Duncan Black and Alonzo G. Decker the primary products developed by Black & Decker included machines that made milk bottle caps and dipped candies. The Black and Decker tools logo shows a hexagonal nut, in which symbolized the machine tool trade. Black & Decker manufactured a 
portable device, an electrical drill, which had a trigger switch along with a pistol handle. Their first plant was built in Towson, Baltimore, in 1919 and their annual sales exceeded $1 million.
